La Lomita Mission is the namesake of the city of Mission, Texas. Built in 1865 by a French merchant, it was later gifted to Oblate preists. In 1907 it was sold to developers who maintained the site and gave birth to the city of Mission. It is one of the last surviving buildings of the Spanish colonial era north of the Rio Grande.
